The North American Aviation P-51 Mustang was a long-range single-seat World War II fighter. The Mustang first flew in Royal Air Force service as a fighter-bomber and reconnaissance aircraft before being converted into a bomber escort, employed in raids over Germany with Allied air forces in Europe and in limited service in Japan. This 1:48-scale hand-carved wood model is a replica of the aircraft flown during World War II by the Tuskegee Airmen of the 332nd Fighter Group, the first U.S. squadron composed of African Americans.
