DC-3 Propellor Blade

Item No.

Product Details

The Douglas DC-3 twin-engine airliner was remarkably reliable and comfortable for its time - the Sleeper Transport version had plush seats that converted into sleeping berths for 14 passengers -- and helped make air travel possible for more people than ever before. Douglas Aircraft built 455 commercial DC-3 airliners; the company produced an additional 10,174 C-47 military transport variants during World War II. Even 80 years after its first flight, the DC-3 is considered to be one of the greatest airplanes of all time, and hundreds are still in operation today. This artifact is a genuine propeller blade from a retired DC-3 Wright Cyclone engine. Our technicians mounted the intact propeller blade upright on a rotating bearing attached to a painted steel base. The base is housed in aluminum that has been machined to resemble airplane skin, complete with rivets; the bottom surface is covered in felt to protect tables and floors. An authentic DC-3 yoke button is affixed to the outside of the base as a fitting accent. Measures approximately 74"H x 23" in diameter. Weighs approximately 150 lb. Made in U.S.A. *NOTE: This artifact is sold as is with no guarantee that parts maintain original function. Not for flight use.*
